Yaya Toure's curse: What is it, the story behind it and is it true?
FootballFans Claim Man City Boss Pep Guardiola Broke Yaya Toure’s Curse With Colourful Wristband
- Manchester City's moment to conquer Europe might have arrived at last after silencing Real Madrid
- After many heartbreaks and near misses, a mystical reason has been attached to a date with destiny
- Fans believe Pep Guardiola broke the infamous 'Yaya Toure curse' by wearing a colourful wristband
Pep Guardiola exacted revenge on Real Madrid as Manchester City completely blew the Champions League holders away with swagger en route to the final.
The Man City boss masterminded a 4-0 rout of the competition's most successful club.
A brace from Bernardo Silva and an own-goal from Eder Militao, plus a predator's finish from Julian Alvarez, means the Citizens are on the brink of achieving the Holy Grail.
Prior to the Citizens reaching their second final in three seasons, a lot of meaning was read into Guardiola's inability to guide the Premier League leaders to European success despite his domestic achievements.
One watershed reason why many believe the former Barcelona coach was yet to lead Man City to the promised land is the 'Yaya Toure curse', reportedly invoked by African shamans due to the Spaniard's supposed ill-treatment of the former Ivory Coast international, per Bleacher Report.
According to talkSPORT, the player in question has moved to debunk such claims, but his former agent, Dimitry Seluk, also suggested the long-standing curse has been revoked, paving the way for Man City to thrive in Europe.
Coincidentally, on the back of Seluk's claims, City reached the final in swashbuckling fashion.
However, eagle-eyed fans took to social media to attribute the club's success to a colourful wristband worn by Guardiola during the second-leg tie.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Man City's time to conquer Europe may have finally come after Real Madrid were slayed by the English champions on Wednesday.
The English giants thrashed the Spanish titans 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium for a 5-1 aggregate victory that exacted revenge for a dramatic semi-final exit a year ago.
If Man City are victorious against Inter Milan in Istanbul next month, they could complete a treble of the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League.
