Former Ghanaian footballer and the uncle of Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew, Solar Ayew has hit back at ex-Hearts of Oak midfielder, Emmanuel Osei Kuffour for his comments about the future of the Nottingham Forest forward in the national team.

Kuffour, who played for Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, told Accra-based radio station, Onua FM that it was time Ayew retired from the national team.

According to the CAF Champions League winner, the former Swansea midfielder no longer has nothing to offer the national team.

"Andre Ayew is done with the Black Stars and should be shown the exit in order to open doors for emerging talents like Kudus Mohammed," Kuffour told Onua Sports.

Kuffour said it was time for 'Dede' Ayew - who has been a member of the Black Stars since 2008 - to leave.

"[Kudus], Kamaldeen Sulemana, and others also need the space to show us what they have."

His comments about the Ghana captain did not go down well with uncle of the player, with Solar Ayew retaliating by asking about Kuffour's achievements in football.

"Who is General Osei Kuffour to talk about Dede Ayew, someone who has achieved [more] than you? I thought it was Samuel Osei Kuffour who was saying that," Solar told Ezra FM, as quoted by Pulse.

Solar Ayew added that next in line for Black Stars' captaincy should have been Jordan Ayew.

"...But the way we Ghanaians do our things, that's why Jordan is not the captain of the Stars."

Dede Ayew has been in the senior national team since he was a teenager and has been captain since 2019, leading the team to the World Cup in Qatar last year.

Kuffour wants Andre Ayew out

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Ghana and Hearts of Oak legend, Kuffour has called for Ayew's exclusion from the Black Stars.

The ex-midfielder said Ghana's national team should be spearheaded by Mohammed Kudus, Kamaldeen Sulemana and other rising stars.

Koffour also believes Ayew's best days are long since past and claimed he would not add anything new to the current Ghana team.
