South Africa’s Pitso Mosimane could be appointed as the new Super Eagles coach, according to inside sources in the Nigeria Football Federation.
The contract of the current coach of the team, Jose Peseiro, will lapse in June amid reports that the football house will not renew it.
It was gathered that NFF chiefs are already hunting for a new coach as the board members unanimously decide not to further Peseiro's stay.
Further reports claim applications are already being received from representatives of different coaches. The source said via Own Goal Nigeria:

Football"We (NFF) have been receiving applications from coaches and some have been offered to us by their representatives. Since you asked I will tell you that Pitso Mosimane is among the top names offered to us by a Nigerian who has a very close relationship with him.
"His case is very much like a continuation of what was started before he went to Saudi Arabia. In his final year at Al Ahly he was offered to us by the same person. Around that time Peseiro was the anointed choice. So it didn't work, let's wait and see what will happen in the coming days.
"He (Mosimane) is not the only one even Peseiro wants to continue in his role beyond the expiration of his deal. For now we are not looking at firing him but no talks over an extension of his deal. I'm sorry I can't tell you the other names. Five of them are really top options for now.”

FootballSports Brief earlier reported that experienced Nigerian soccer administrator Gara Gombe explained that the Nigerian Football Federation chiefs made a mistake to have hired Jose Peseiro as the Super Eagles' gaffer.
Peseiro became the head coach of the three-time African champions following Nigeria's failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, losing the playoffs against Ghana.
Gombe, a-time chairman of the Gombe State Football Association, claimed that the Super Eagles are going nowhere with Peseiro.
