  • Manchester United are hot on the heels of Napoli defender Kim Min-jae
  • The South Korean was pivotal in Napoli’s Serie A triumph this season

Arsenal could benefit from a domino effect if Manchester United successfully attempt to sign Napoli centre-back, Kim Min-jae.

The South Korean defender joined the Serie A champions last summer to replace Kalidou Koulibaly, who left for Chelsea.

He instantly slotted in and became a force in the heart of the Partenopei’s defence, helping them to a first Scudetto since the 1989/90 season.

Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis repelled every attempt of other clubs to poach the Asian away from the club in January, just six months into his time in Italy.

Min-jae’s transfer domino effect

According to Football365, the 26-year-old has a £42 million release clause, and transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano confirmed it would become active in July.

Erik ten Hag is pushing for Man United's hierarchy to meet this valuation and snap up one of Europe’s most sought-after players.

There is a planned exodus of unwanted stars at Old Trafford, with centre-backs, Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones confirmed departures.

SportBible reports that rival, Arsenal are set to benefit from the transfer if it happens, as one of their wantaway players is eyed by the Neapolitans as a replacement.

According to LondonWorld, if Kim departs, Napoli will move for Gunners defender, Dinos Mavropanos, who is currently on loan at German club, Stuttgart.

The Greek defender is surplus to requirements at the Emirates Stadium, as Mikel Arteta plans a summer clearout and revitalisation of his squad to compete on all fronts next season.

Ten Hag draws striker shortlist

The talented defender is not ten Hag’s only target this summer. He has also emphasised the need for a striker to help the team score more goals.

Sports Brief reported that he drew up a shortlist of strikers he wants for United, including Tottenham striker, Harry Kane and Napoli's Victor Osimhen.

Those are expensive options and should they not get them, ten Hag has Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojland and ex-Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham in mindon the list.
