Stadium Management South Africa is taking no chances with Kaizer Chiefs’ last game of the season.
The Amakhosi will take on Cape Town City at the FNB Stadium, but there are concerns over further fan revolts.
Angry fans threw objects at coach Arthur Zwane after their side’s defeat to SuperSport United, a loss which meant that Chiefs are out of the running for continental competition next season.
As noted by Soccer Laduma, Stadium Management South Africa is in talks to ensure extra security is available for the game.
Stadium Management’s Managing Director Bertie Grobbelaar confirmed that police and security officials have planned to deal with potential violence accordingly.
“There are measures in place, should something happen, to deal with it, from a venue perspective as well, with the layout and the provision of our security services. We are aware of that. It was addressed in a meeting and was planned for accordingly. It’s always a concern, but it was addressed at the meeting,” he said.
What a Chiefs’ loss means
As noted by The South African, a loss for Kaizer Chiefs would see them drop to fifth place on the league standings. The Amakhosi finished last season in fifth, and fans won’t be pleased if the team fails to do better this time.

Sports Brief earlier reported that Neil Tovey is disappointed with the actions of Kaizer Chiefs' supporters, but also understands their frustration.
The former Amakhosi captain has weighed in on the aftermath of Chiefs' latest defeat, as angry fans turned on coach Arthur Zwane.
Tovey, who played 364 games for the Soweto-based side, said that he disagreed with the supporters' actions but understood why frustrations boiled over.
