Real Madrid midfielder, Luka Modric, has confirmed that left-back Eduardo Camavinga is fit ahead of their Champions League clash with Manchester City.
Camavinga picked up a knock in Madrid's La Liga contest with Getafe and was seen requiring an ice pack on his knee, leading to fears that he might not be in the squad for Madrid's crucial contest on Wednesday.
However, Modric confirmed in a pre-match press conference to Goal that Camavinga will play against the Sky Blues at the Etihad.
"He is OK and he's going to play, that's the most important thing," Modric said in a press conference. "Since he's arrived, he's grown a lot, he has proven that he can play very well at left-back. He doesn't like playing there but he's doing well and I hope that wherever he plays he does well tomorrow."
Camavinga's importance in Carlo Ancelotti's squad cannot be overstated. He has featured in all but two of their 56 games across competitions this season, which includes missing a league game due to suspension.
The 20-year-old's ability to play as a left-back has come in handy for the Italian tactician, especially during Ferland Mendy's long-term absence due to a muscle injury.
Camavinga’s pivotal first-leg role
The former Stade Rennais midfielder started the first leg and played a major role in Madrid's only goal of the night, assisting Vinicius Junior after running nearly 60 yards from left-back. But he also had a hand in City's sole strike, giving the ball away in the build-up to Kevin De Bruyne's equaliser.
Camavinga appears in line to start on Wednesday, presumably at left-back, as reported by Marca where he will look to build on a strong run of form.

FootballEarlier Sports Brief reported the youngster’s growing influence as a left-back, though Camavinga's positioning has occasionally cost him, particularly in his first matches there, but he is improving quickly and does not receive a lot of defensive help from team-mate Vinicius.
Last season Camavinga was important for Madrid as they clinched their record-extending 14th Champions League title, but mainly as a substitute in the final phases of games.
The midfielder brought energy to the team and helped them make it through extra-time periods against Chelsea and Manchester City in the semi-finals.
