  • Romelu Lukaku applauded Thierry Henry after Inter Milan qualified for the UCL final
  • Lukaku came off the bench to set up Lautaro Martinez for the only goal of the match
  • Henry and Lukaku share history after working together at the Belgium national team

The CBS Sports Golazo punditry team has been a revelation to football lovers on Champions League nights.

From Kate Abdo's constant trolling of Micah Richards, to Jamie Carragher's accent, to Richards' booming laughter - and not forgetting Thierry Henry's subtle digs - that team is the whole package.

They have managed to fuse football with comedy, much to the happiness of viewers and on May 17, it was the turn of Romelu Lukaku to join in.

Lukaku had just played a part in helping Inter Milan see off cross-town rivals, AC Milan to qualify for the UEFA Champions League final for the first time since 2010.

A Lautaro Martinez strike from a Lukaku assist in the second half was enough on the night as Simone Inzaghi's men proceeded on a 3-0 aggregate.

Lukaku lauds Henry during interview

After the game, the Chelsea loanee shared a beautiful moment with Henry.

The two worked together when the French legend served as an assistant to Roberto Martinez in the Belgian national team, and it appears they still share admiration for one another.

Lukaka stated during his interview:

"Henry is very, very old school and strict. When we met, I was at Everton. I think it was my last season. I told him, 'you know what, I want to hear it from you. Give me the business. What can I do better?' We sat together every day for that training camp. 8 days, two hours - watching every game and every clip... 'There, your touch was bad; there you did well'."

The duo also touched on how difficult it was after the 2022 World Cup last year in Qatar, after Belgium were knocked out in the group stage.

Lukaku was on the receiving end of criticism after he spurned very decent chances in their final game against Croatia.

Inter Milan will face the winner of the clash between Manchester City and Real Madrid in the final.

Lukaku: Henry once humbled player

Sports Brief had previously on an amusing anecdote from Henry's time as Belgium assistant coach, around the time when he and Lukaku built a bond.

As Martinez's assistant, one of the Frenchman's roles was to train the strikers in the team, given his vast experience and his prestige as a World Cup winner.

In a past video interview with Henry, Lukaku recalled one incident where despite his age, the Arsenal icon showed his class and utterly humbled a player.
