Cristiano Ronaldo hit a unique landmark on Tuesday, May 16, with his goal for Al-Nassr against Al-Ta'ee in the Saudi Arabian top flight.
The 38-year old scored from the penalty spot to end his four-game goal drought, after the referee consulted the VAR following a challenge in the box.
In typical Ronaldo fashion, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner hit a powerful low shot past the keeper, leaving him with no chance.
Despite it being his first goal in four games, Ronaldo took his overall career penalty tally to 152 spot kicks - the most in history.
His success from the spot puts him ahead of his fiercest rival, Lionel Messi, who is miles behind with 109 career penalties, according to Transfermkt.
Al-Nassr close Saudi league gap
Ronaldo could have gotten more goals on Tuesday, but his header in the first half went straight to the Al-Ta'ee goalkeeper.
He then found some space at the edge of the box moments later, but his effort forced a fine save from the keeper, as reported by ESPN.
Anderson Talisca wrapped up the scoring in the 80th minute to ensure Al-Nassr's comprehensive victory, narrowing the gap at the top to three points with three games to go.
It is unlikely Al-Ittihad will drop too many points en route to the season finale, while Ronaldo’s team have to win the remainder of their games and hope their rivals slip up.
