FootballThierry Henry Reveals the Real Problem at PSG Amid Lionel Messi Boos
- Former Arsenal and Barcelona striker Thierry Henry has suggested there is a deeper problem within PSG that is causing the unrest at the club
- Lionel Messi and Neymar have been targeted by fans for slacking during their time with the Parisians
- Amid the rancour, PSG are on the brink of winning a record 11th Ligue 1 title
Thierry Henry has identified the real problem with Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
The Parisians have endured a topsy-turvy season falling short in their pursuit of the Champions League, suffering a shock exit in the Coupe de France while labouring to their league title defence.
Amid the chaotic nature of their campaign, superstars Lionel Messi and Neymar Junior have been accused by the club's fanbase of not giving their all in PSG's pursuit.
The fans' outrage has led to a series of whistles and boos particularly targeted at Messi, with a section labelling the Argentine phenom and Neymar "mercenaries," France 24 reports.
However, former France international turned pundit Thierry Henry argues that PSG's supporters should blame themselves for the club's inability to reach its full potential instead of targeting Messi and his superstar teammates.
"For me, the problem at PSG is not Messi, Mbappé or Neymar" Henry began as quoted by Football Tweet.
"A few years ago, the fans whistled at Mbappé, the same for Neymar and now for Messi. They whistle at their best players. For me, they [the fans] are the problem of this club."
Messi's trip damages PSG's image
In an earlier publication, Thierry Henry suggested Lionel Messi’s decision to visit Saudi Arabia may have hurt the pride of Paris Saint-Germain’s owners after the Parisians fined the Argentine, Sports Brief reported.
Messi was suspended by PSG and fined two weeks’ wages after he took an unsanctioned trip to the Middle East without the approval of manager Christophe Galtier.

Lionel Messi booed again
Sports Brief previously reported that Paris Saint-Germain fans have continued to show no mercy for their superstar Lionel Messi as they insist the World Cup winner must have to go.
Messi was booed during his first game back after a two-week suspension, much to the delight of the crowd.
When Messi's name was read out by the stadium announcer at the Parc des Princes, it was met with loud jeers and whistles from the home supporters. And the fans continued to whistle at him throughout the first half.
