Royal AM boss Shauwn MaMkhize has now released a statement explaining that all employees, including players, were paid their due compensation within the stipulated time frame, IOL reported.

“The article titled Royal Mess at MaMkhize’s Royal AM as Players Remain Unpaid falsely claimed that I did not pay my players’ salaries for three months, which is categorically incorrect. As a responsible citizen, I ensure that all my employees, including my players, are paid their due compensation within the stipulated time frame,” the South African socialite said.

She also urged media organisations and journalists to ensure their information before publishing it to avoid spreading the wrong information and negative publicity.

Mamkhize's previous unpaid salary woes

Ironically, this isn’t the first players complained about not receiving their money. In September 2021, MaMkhize also responded to rumours that players did not receive their salaries, The Citizen noted. On that occasion, 15 of the club’s players claimed they were not paid their salaries, while others said they were only paid half. Mkhize took to social media in that instance to explain the situation.

Royal AM cut 9 players?

The allegations of unpaid monies is not the only drama unfolding at the club.

Soccer Laduma reported that the club have also parted ways with nine players before the last game of the season. The players allegedly were called in for a meeting with management to discuss their money issues and were told that their services were no longer needed.

Royal AM's new record

Since the club was controversially founded in 2020, Royal AM has never been far from the headlines.

The team, owned by socialite and businesswomen Shauwn Mkhize, have added much-needed entertainment value to the Premier Soccer League.

Thwihli Thwahla have since entered the world record books for boasting a dubious stat, Sports Brief previously reported.
