Ilkay Gundogan was the star of the day as Manchester City beat relegation-threatened Everton 3-0 at the Etihad to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to four points.
Two teams at two ends of the table, and the match went exactly as one would have predicted. The top team took the day with a dominant performance.
Gundogan opened the scoring in the 37th minute after controlling and turning a ball into the Toffees net from Riyad Mahrez’s cross.
Two minutes later, he set up Erling Haaland for his 36th league goal of the season to help Pep Guardiola’s men go into the break with a two-goal lead.

The German picked up where he left off by sending a freekick into the top right corner of Jordan Pickford’s goal after Phil Foden was fouled on the edge of the box.

The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder’s contract expires in the summer, and he is yet to agree to a new one. He could leave the Etihad Stadium with Marca reporting that Barcelona have made him their primary target.
