Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has claimed that the club had a chance to sign Erling Haaland for just £4million but the club did not listen to him.
Haaland has enjoyed a meteoric rise to stardom from his days at RB Salzburg through to Manchester City, who he joined in the summer of 2022.
The Norwegian has been firing from all cylinders since his move to the Premier League, with his incisiveness in front of the goal helping him to shatter records.
Key among the records Haaland has broken this season includes the most goals scored by any player in a single season.

According to Sky Sports, the star forward broke the record after he scored against West Ham United in what was his 35 Premier League goal.
Man United had chance to sign Haaland
It has now emerged that Man United had a chance to sign the 22-year-old way before rivals Man City snapped him up from Borussia Dortmund.
This is according to Solskjaer, who disclosed that United were presented with the opportunity of signing Haaland for just £4million.
However, the Red Devils are said to have ignored Solskjaer's advice.
At the time, The Sun reports, Haaland was playing under Solskjaer during their time together at Molde.

"I asked for £4million for Haaland but they didn’t sign him," he added.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Erling Haaland’s first season in English football continues to be record-breaking, as he scooped another prestigious award and set a new record in the process.
The Norwegian joined Manchester City for £51 million in the summer after two-and-half years at Borussia Dortmund, where he made his mark by helping the club win the DFB-Pokal.
