This figure is allegedly in line with a familiar trend with regard to Arsenal's summer transfer windows, ever since Stan Kroenke took full ownership of the club back in 2018.

Which players do Arsenal want?

The Mirror reports that Arsenal are in the market for a top-quality defender and a backup right-back. The publication also claims the Londoners have shortlisted Crystal Palace ace, Marc Guehi and Leicester's Belgian full-back, Timothy Castagne as potential targets.

Castagne is wanted as a cover for Tahekiro Tomiyasu, who is currently sidelined with a long-term knee injury.

It is understood that West Ham skipper, Declan Rice is at the top of Arsenal's transfer wish list.

But with the midfielder commanding a huge transfer fee, the club could be forced to balance the books by letting go of Florian Balogun and Kieran Tierney, who are likely to depart the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Merson pinpoints Arteta's mistake

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Arsenal icon, Paul Merson pinpointing Arsenal's major mistake which led to the team losing ground to Man Citythat Mikel Arteta made in the Premier League title race.

For weeks, the Arteta-managed Gunners had been the firm favourites to lift the Premier League crown for the first time in close to two decades.

After a slump after a stunning run of form, Merson highlighted the Southampton game as one where a choice of player marked a big mistake.
