The former France international was part of Erik ten Hag's team that ended the Red Devils' long wait for silverware after they saw off Newcastle United to win the Carabao Cup at Wembley Stadium.

Why Varane joined Man United

The towering defender has now opened the lid on why he chose to leave Real Madrid for a move to the Premier League with Manchester United.

Speaking to United's official website, Varane admitted that it was a great moment for him when he moved to Old Trafford, with the centre-back going on to outline five reasons why he completed the move.

"It was a great moment. It's a huge club with some of the best fans in the world and the history of the club is something special.
"Everything [about the club], the spirit, the philosophy, the passion around the club, it is something very special and different.
"I like [the current home shirt] because it's a bit old school. I like the collar. When I wear it, I feel I have to give 100 per cent of myself and everything on the pitch," he added.

3 Man United stars to leave club

Earlier, Sports Brief reported three Manchester United stars who fell out of favour under Erik ten Hag are set to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Ten Hag is set to embark on a radical plan to restructure the Man United squad as he bids to help the club challenge for more trophies next season.

The move would see the Dutchman ship out a number of fringe players in the hope of raising transfer funds and creating room for summer arrivals.
