The towering defender has now opened the lid on why he chose to leave Real Madrid for a move to the Premier League with Manchester United.
Speaking to United's official website, Varane admitted that it was a great moment for him when he moved to Old Trafford, with the centre-back going on to outline five reasons why he completed the move.
"It was a great moment. It's a huge club with some of the best fans in the world and the history of the club is something special.
"Everything [about the club], the spirit, the philosophy, the passion around the club, it is something very special and different.
"I like [the current home shirt] because it's a bit old school. I like the collar. When I wear it, I feel I have to give 100 per cent of myself and everything on the pitch," he added.
