Guardiola kicks against 'revenge'

Seeking Champions League revenge against Real Madrid would be a grave error by Manchester City, Pep Guardiola claimed on Monday ahead of their semi-final showdown, Sports Brief reported.

The City coach said his team would try and capitalise on an "opportunity" instead of aiming to make Carlo Ancelotti's reigning champions pay for eliminating them at the same stage last season.

The former Barcelona player and manager was at odds with City's defensive midfielder Rodri, who said the team were hungry for revenge against the record 14-time winners on Tuesday at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Madrid vs City: Makelele picks winner

Earlier Sports Brief reported that Claude Makelele has weighed in on the forthcoming first-leg semi-final clash between Real Madrid and Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League.

The current holders of Europe's premier club competition, Real Madrid, are bidding to win a record-extending 15th Champions League crown but will first have to scale the difficult hurdle of beating Manchester City, who are in red-hot form.

Discussing the chances of both teams booking a spot in the final, Makelele, who made over 100 appearances for Real Madrid during his three-year stint, believes it will be a difficult tie; however, Man City have the advantage.
