Manchester United could be forced to enter the market for a new goalkeeper to replace error-prone David de Gea.

The Red Devils were hoping to return to winning ways during the London Stadium encounter to boost their chances of securing a Champions League spot.

The outlet adds that the Spaniard has now committed four errors leading to a goal in all competitions this season, the joint most of any Premier League goalkeeper, along with Tottenham's Hugo Lloris.

De Gea's contract situation

This comes at a time De Gea has entered the final months of his contract at Old Trafford.

The Spain international is currently among the highest earners in the English top flight but is likely to get a pay cut if he is to stay at Man United.

Reports indicate that his representatives and United chiefs are in talks over a new deal that will see him extend his stay at the Theatre of Dreams.

However, his costly errors could leave United with no choice but to change their mind over the shot-stopper's stay at the club.

Man United transfer options

Sports Brief now takes a look at five world-class goalkeepers Man United could move for to replace De Gea.

1. Diogo Costa

According to Goal, Diogo Costa is the man who has widely been touted as a possible replacement for De Gea at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese shot-stopper has enjoyed a stunning rise to prominence due to his ball-playing ability and ball distribution.

Costa is currently in the books of FC Porto, who could demand as much as £66 million from anyone interested in him.

2. Giorgi Mamardashvili

The Valencia goalkeeper is the other player who has been backed to succeed De Gea at Man United.

However, the Red Devils may have to contend with competition from Chelsea in their hopes of signing Giorgi Mamardashvili.

It is expected that Mamardashvili would come cheap, considering that Valencia are currently cash strapped.

3. David Raya

The Brentford stopper has made a name for himself over the last two seasons with the Bees.

The Spanish ace joined Brentford in 2019 from Blackburn and has gone on to establish himself as an integral squad member at the club.

While he is valued at £40m, he is likely to be available for much less in the summer after stalling on a new deal.

4. Jordan Pickford

The Englishman has been on top of his game for years at Everton.

However, he could jump ship in the summer after two consecutive relegation dogfights with the Toffees.

And with Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale putting him under pressure for the England No1 role, Pickford could consider a move to a top club in the shape of Man United.

5. Dean Henderson

Manchester United would need to spend nothing to get Dean Henderson.

The Englishman is in the books of the Red Devils but is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest.

Henderson impressed in the first half of the 2022-23 season with Forest before a season-ending injury saw new signing Keylor Navas replace him.

The shotstopper is set to return to Old Trafford this summer.

Rashford's reaction to De Gea blunder

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Manchester United fans are all saying the same thing after they spotted Marcus Rashford's reaction to David de Gea's goalkeeping blunder.

De Gea was at fault during United's Premier League clash against West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday evening.

Eagle-eyed fans were able to spot Rashford's stunned reaction to De Gea's costly goalkeeping mistake, with some reckoning the squad is tired of the Spaniard's errors.
