Legendary African footballer, Didier Drogba has congratulated Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen following his leading role in Napoli's Serie A title success.

Osimhen scored 22 league goals as Napoli were crowned champions of Italy for the first time in 33 years, with four games to end the season.

The Super Eagles star scored in the 1-0 home win against Fiorentina as Napoli celebrated their latest triumph at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium.

Drogba in eulogizing Osimhen wrote: "Indeed capo Victor Osimhen, from the streets of Nigeria to the World’s History books. Congratulations my Brother to you and your Club SSC Napoli."

The 24-year-old expressed gratitude to Drogba for his kind words.

"Thank you legend," he replied the former Ivory and Chelsea legend.

Osimhen is currently leading the golden boot race in Italy with 23 goals and could be crowned goal king if he scores in his remaining matches.

Meanwhile, German giants Bayern Munich and French outfit Paris-Saint Germain are reportedly interested in the services of the striker.

Osimhen is yet to make a decision over his future at the Naples outfit.

Osimhen delighted with Serie A triumph

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen has broken his silence after leading Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years.

The 24-year-old Nigerian striker scored the goal that crowned Napoli as champions of Italy after netting the equalizer in the 1-1 draw at Udinese on Thursday night.

Osimhen's 22 goals in Serie A proved crucial for Napoli in an outstanding campaign.

Victor Osimhen has charged Napoli fans to continue the celebrations after fulfilling his promise of delivering the Serie A title to the club.

The Nigeria striker promised to help Napoli win the Scudetto when he first arrived in Naples in 2020 following several attempts by the club in recent years.
