  • Yaya Toure has reportedly had the curse placed on Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola lifted
  • The former Man City midfielder and his coach had a frosty relationship during his playing days
  • The Citizens will face title-holders Real Madrid in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League

Yaya Toure has finally lifted the curse which halted Manchester City's ambitions of winning the UEFA Champions League, according to his agent, Dimitri Seluk.

The Ivorian Man City legend and his representative were said to have fallen out with manager, Pep Guardiola in 2018 amid claims the player had been mistreated.

This led to the agent and the player allegedly consulting African shamans to place a curse on the manager to end his quest to win the UEFA Champions League for a third time.

"I think it is time for this bitterness to stop - and I know that Yaya feels the same because he wishes nothing but success for City. I can say that the spell has now been lifted by the shamans - and that I think City will win the Champions League under Pep," the agent told the Mirror.

He added Man City had a good chance of winning the UCL this year.

"But whatever happens, they will definitely win it in the next three years," he added.

Toure won the Champions League with Guardiola during his time with Barcelona in Spain, but decided to leave after he was played out of position by the Spanish coach.

He was reunited with Guardiola again at Man City and their relationship worsened in Toure's final year at the English club.

Toure lands English coaching job

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on African football great, Toure becoming a Tottenham coach ahead of the 2022/2023 season - with the club's youth set-up.

The Man City legend had been working with the English club's developmental team for some time as he continued towards acquiring his coaching badges.

According to the Evening Standard at the time, the 39-year-old former player was set to join the North London club's coaching staff on a permanent deal.

Toure on peace with Guardiola

Sports Brief also reported on former Barcelona midfielder, Toure wanting to patch up his relationship with two-time former coach, Guardiola.

The pair had a frosty relationship over two spells in England and Spain, reportedly due to the Ivorian reportedly not getting much game time.

At one point, Toure claimed Guardiola did not like African players, as the two clashed often while at Barcelona as well as with Man City.
