Declan Rice broke a pledge made to Marcus Rashford on Sunday evening, May 7, during Man United's Premier League clash against West Ham.

The two football stars faced off as the Hammers hosted United at the London Stadium.

United were desperate to return to winning ways during the meeting to boost their chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

However, it was the hosts who emerged the victors, with Said Benrahma's first-half strike sinking Erik ten Hag's men away from home.

According to Goal, David de Gea was responsible for his side's defeat, with his costly goalkeeping blunder earning the home side a vital win.

Rice breaks promise to Rashford

An off-field moment involving Rice and Rashford has become a major talking point, especially on social media.

The Mirror reports that Rice had promised to hand his match-worn shirt to Rasshford after the encounter, only for the midfielder to give it to a young fan, who was crying in the stands.

A video capturing the moment showed Rice gifting his shirt after he spotted the youngster in tears.

"Are you alright, brother? Why are you crying?" Rice asked the kid before giving him a big hug.

The young lad went on to ask for the midfielder's shirt, to which the West Ham ace replied:

"You know what, I did promise it to Rashford. Don't show them a lot [some other fans] because I've just told them I'm going to give it to Rashford, but I'll give him another one!"

Chelsea could help Arsenal land Rice

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Chelsea could reportedly play an important role in Arsenal's pursuit of the services of West Ham United midfielder, Declan Rice.

Rice has courted interest from a number of Premier League clubs over the years, with Manchester United also linked with a potential transfer move for the West Ham skipper.
