  • Jude Bellingham is set to land a lucrative deal when he joins Real Madrid this summer
  • Bellingham will reportedly get a deal that will make him among the best-paid English football players
  • Jadon Sancho currently tops the list, with Raheem Sterling second

Jude Bellingham is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after young talents in football today. The midfielder came to the fore at Birmingham City, but it is at Borussia Dortmund and the England national team set-up that he has really forced European powerhouses to take cognizance.

Multiple outlets reported last week that Real Madrid had won the race to sign the talented 19-year-old. The record European winners were among the clubs interested, alongside Liverpool and Manchester City.

As GMS reports, Bellingham will receive a salary almost 10 times his current deal should the move go through. This will place him among the best-paid English football players.

Jadon Sancho ranks first with the Manchester United star on a weekly wage of 350,000 euros. He signed a five-year contract when he joined from Borussia Dortmund.

Raheem Sterling is second on the list after Chelsea convinced him to ditch Manchester City for West London. The Three Lions star is believed to earn around 325,000 euros weekly, which essentially means he is the best-paid Chelsea player.

Jack Grealish's move from Aston Villa to Manchester City in 2021 saw him receive a bumper pay rise, putting him third on this list with 300,000 euros weekly, as Sportrac reports.

The top-five is closed out by defensive pair Reece James and John Stones of Chelsea and Manchester City, respectively, who are both on 250,000 euros weekly. Should Bellingham join Real Madrid, it has been reported he will be on a similar package.

Best-paid athletes worldwide

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the highest-paid athlete of the year 2022, beating a host of top sportsmen to the top spot.

The veteran striker is currently plying his trade in the Saudi top flight following his sensational move to Al Nassr in January.

Forbes used various parameters to draw up the list, combining on-field “prize money, salaries and bonuses” plus estimated off-field “sponsorship deals, appearances fees and memorabilia.”

Ronaldo is said to have banked an eyewatering £ 109 million during the year under review to top Forbes’ list for the third time in his career.
