  • Kylian Mbappe notched a fortuitous goal as Paris Saint-Germain recorded a 3-1 win against Troyes
  • It was PSG's first game without Lionel Messi, who has been slapped with a 2-week suspension
  • The Parisians are six points clear of second-placed Lens with four games to spare in the French Ligue 1

Kylian Mbappe inspired Paris Saint-Germain to a comfortable win at Troyes, edging closer to a record-extending 11th Ligue 1 crown.

The defending French champions had endured a tumultuous week, with star forward, Lionel Messi being suspended on the back of embarking on an unsanctioned trip to Saudi Arabia.

In the absence of the Argentine phenom, Mbappe played a starring role as Les Parisiens returned to winning ways while tightening their grip at the top of the league table, PSG Talk reports.

The 24-year-old notched his 24th goal in Ligue 1, albeit fortuitously, when he headed home after an initial cross from the right flank deflected off the crossbar and into his path.

Second-half strikes from Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz rendered Xavier Chavalerin's goal a consolation as Christophe Galtier's charges put some distance between themselves and closest rivals, Lens with a 3-1 win against Troyes on Sunday evening.

What's next for PSG?

PSG will play host to relegation-threatened AC Ajaccio on May 13 at the Parc des Princes. Ajaccio are just one point clear of Troyes in 19th place.

Mbappe to leave PSG soon?

Meanwhile, PSG could lose Mbappe as the club endures one of its toughest summers since being bought by Qatari Sports Investments in June 2011, Sports Brief has reported.

The Ligue 1 giants are reportedly set to part ways with seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi at the end of the season after a reported fallout with the Argentine superstar.

Former football agent Francois Gallardo revealed the French star is also nursing a desire to leave Parc des Princes when the season ends amid rumoured links to Real Madrid.
