Nigeria Hammer South Africa To Reach the Quarterfinal of the 2023 AFCON in Algeria

Golden Eaglets of Nigeria have qualified for the quarterfinal of 2023 Under 17 African Cup of Nations going on in Algeria after coming back to beat South Africa 3-2 on Saturday night, 6 May, in their final group game.

It was a challenging battle for Coach Nduka and his wards who were made to fight hard before getting the victory against the South Africans.

Going into this game, the Golden Eaglets knew that a win was all they needed to progress to the next round even though it did not come easy for them.

South Africa takes the lead

South Africa started the match impressively and waited until the 6th minute before taking the lead through Vicky Mkhawana before Nigeria restored parity in the 34th minute through Charles Agada.

Mabena gives South Africa the lead again in the 45th minute and in the 46th minute, the Golden Eaglets leveled up through Chikioke Eke.

Abubakar Abdullahi scored the winner for Golden Eaglets in the 64th minute for them to book their place in the last eight.

Oliseh: Osimhen should leave Napoli

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Former Super Eagles gaffer Sunday Oliseh congratulated Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen for his impressive performances this season for Napoli which has helped them to win the Serie A title after 33 years.

Osimhen is currently the man of the moment in world football after helping Napoli to Scudetto with his fantastic goal at Udinese giving his side the title.

There has been speculation surrounding the future of Osimhen at Napoli this term with many clubs interested in signing the Nigerian superstar.

While commenting on Twitter on Osimhen's game against Udinese, Oliseh clarified that the former Lille strongman has done well for Napoli and it is time for him to move to the Premier League.
