FootballMicah Richards Trolls Alan Shearer After Haaland Broke His Premier League Record
- Erling Haaland scored Manchester City's second goal in the 3-0 win over West Ham
- It was the Norwegian's 35th goal of his debut season and set a new league record
- Man United legend Andrew Cole and Newcastle legend Alan Shearer formerly held the record
Micah Richards did not find Alan Shearer's congratulatory tweet to Erling Haaland gracious, after the Norwegian surpassed the Newcastle United legend's record.
The Manchester City striker scored the 35th goal of his debut season in the 3-0 win over West Ham to send City back to the top of the Premier League table.
Haaland achieved this feat in a 34-game season, while Shearer and Cole achieved theirs during the 42-game season, which adds some extraordinary weight to his form.
The previous record for a 38-game season was held by Liverpool and Egyptian forward, Mohamed Salah. It was broken by the former Borussia Dortmund man with his strike against Arsenal, as reported by Bleacher Report.

Micah Richards trolls Alan Shearer
Shearer, a vocal presence on social media, reacted to Gary Lineker's tweet calling for the 260-goal former striker's thoughts after his record was broken.
"A Premier League record for @ErlingHaaland. 35 goals. That’s nuts. Thoughts are with @alanshearer at this difficult time," Lineker wrote.
The Newcastle United legend then responded:
"Couldn’t have wanted it to go to a nicer guy. It’s only taken 28 years!!!! He’s the best."
Haaland responded to the former Blackburn striker with 'Thank you Legend', but Richards rather mischievously trolled the league's all-time top scorer.
He quoted the tweet with a GIF of a person crying with a smiling mask hiding their tears, suggesting the 52-year-old is not saying precisely what is on his mind.
