  • AS Roma played to a dramatic 1-1 draw against AC Monza on Wednesday night
  • The result was a blow to Roma's UEFA Champions League hopes for next season
  • Jose Mourinho criticised the referee afterwards and labelled him as 'the worst'

On Wednesday night, it was another episode of Jose Mourinho against a centre referee during his side's 1-1 draw away at Serie A first-timers, AC Monza.

Roma finished the game with 10 men after right wing-back, Zeki Celik was sent off for a foul minutes after he picked up his first booking due to an argument.

Stephan El Shaarawy, who exited the game with an apparent season-ending injury, put the capital club ahead in the 24th minute before the home team responded in the 39th minute.

Mourinho reveals hidden microphone

The Special One calmed down moments later to avoid getting sent off and risking a touchline ban, which he said would not be good for his injury-ridden squad.

Football Italia reported that Mourinho had a hidden microphone while on the touchline to record every one of his conversations as a means to protect himself.

“I am not stupid; I went to the game with a microphone and recorded everything from the moment I left the dressing room until I returned. I had to protect myself,” he said.

The former Chelsea boss certainly learned from the past. He argued with referee, Marco Serra, whom he alleged had insulted him, but the audio was said to be unavailable by AIA sources, as reported by Football365.

Since his return to Italy, Mourinho has clashed with referees multiple times, coming out on the right side on most occasions except with Antonio Rapuano, whom he apologised to for being foul, according to Yahoo Sports.

Mourinho labels referee 'the worst'

Sports Brief also reported on Mourinho labelling Chiffi the worst official he had ever met despite his claims to have seen some bad referees in his career.

He claimed the centre official was technically poor and lacked empathy in sending off Celik, who committed a foul in the 96th minute of the Monza match.
