  • Aubameyang made a return to the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night when Chelsea faced Arsenal
  • However, he was accorded a cold reception on his return, with Arsenal fans booing him
  • Auba spent four years with the north Londoners before he left unceremoniously in January 2022

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a reunion to forget with Arsenal fans at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night as a section of the Gunners fanbase booed him.

The Gabonese striker spent four years with Arsenal before his unceremonious exit in January 2022 after an alleged fallout with Mikel Arteta.

Auba had enjoyed a sensational career with the Gunners, especially during the tenures of Arsene Wenger and Unai Emery, that saw him rise through the ranks to become one of the club's most important squad members.

However, Sky Sports reports that Auba lost the armband two years later under Mikel Arteta, with the decision marking the genesis of his tribulations.

The former Dortmund attacker was subsequently offloaded by the Arsenal boss the following transfer window, with the striker joining Barcelona in a free transfer.

Aubameyang booed at the Emirates

After just six months at Camp Nou, Auba sealed a stunning return to the Premier League with Arsenal's London rivals, Chelsea.

And clearly, the move did not go down well with the Arsenal fanbase, with a section of supporters booing him on his return to the Emirates with the Blues on Tuesday night.

The Mirror reports that a portion of Arsenal fans wasted no time in shouting down the former Gunners captain during their huge match against Chelsea.

This is despite Mikel Arteta initially pleading with the home fans to accord their former starman a warm reception.

Auba was part of Chelsea's starting XI but made little to no impact - leaving Frank Lampard with no choice but to substitute him at the break.

Inter Milan wants Aubameyang

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported on Italian giants, Inter Milan wanting Aubameyang as a signing in the summer, but only on a free transfer.

The Nerazzurri want Auba to replace on-loan Chelsea striker, Lukaku, who is set to end his loan term in the summer and return to the club.
