Gavi was taken off during the first half of the game and was replaced by Ansu Fati. As noted by Barca Universal, the youngster seemed to suffer an adductor injury after he was brought down by a tackle.

Barcelona were concerned about the player coming into the game due to his disciplinary record. The 18-year-old was at risk of missing the next match against Espanyol, as he would have been suspended if he picked up another yellow card.

Now he could still miss that game and more. Gavi has been one of Xavi’s most reliable players this season.

As noted by Transfermarkt, Gavi has played 44 games in all competitions this season, has scored two goals and notched up six assists. Gavi also hasn’t missed any games this season due to injury.

With the Blaugrana entering the final few games of the season, Xavi will be hoping to have all his stars available to wrap up the league title. The club will assess the youngster after the game to see how severe the injury is and how many games he could effectively miss.

Court rejects Gavi’s registration

Pablo Gavi is reportedly no longer a first-team player at Barcelona after the court rejected their appeal.

La Liga had initially not given La Blaugrana the greenlight to register the 18-year-old in its first team after the midfielder penned a new contract with the club.

The Spanish league body did not clear the deal because Barcelona were in excess of their spending limit, prompting the Catalans to take the matter to court, Sports Brief reported.
