FootballNemanja Matic Blames Social Media Trolls for Harry Maguire's Man United Struggles
- Nemanja Matic has offered under-fire Harry Maguire some solid advice about his recent form
- He believes the defender has been a victim of social media trolls, which has affected his game
- Matic and Maguire briefly played together at Manchester United before Matic moved to Roma
AS Roma midfielder, Nemanja Matic has made some interesting claims on why Harry Maguire is struggling at Manchester United.
Matic, a former Man United midfielder, believes social media has played a role in the defender’s struggles at Old Trafford.
Despite leaving United last summer after five years with the club, Matic appears to still be keeping tabs on his former side.
United are well on course to secure Champions League football for next season, although a large part of the club’s success this term has been in the absence of Maguire, who has been relegated on the bench in recent games.

The 30-year-old, who was bought from Leicester City for £80 million back in 2019, hasn’t had much game time and Matic believes his dip in form could be as a result of social media criticism.
He believes Maguire is a great player who is deserving of his place in the England team.
"When [Maguire] signed for United, in his first season he played almost every game and he was one of the best players. The problem today is that if you play two or three games not great, with social media, everyone criticises you - and maybe that affected him,” Matic said, in a video posted by Football Daily.
According to Matic, Maguire should find a way of filtering out the criticism and concentrate on his game.

Rojo blasts Solskjaer about Maguire
While Matic has faith in the United man, another former Red Devil, Marcos Rojo did not have many nice things to say about the English defender.
As reported by ESPN, the Boca Juniors man sensationally claimed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer only played Maguire due to the price tag the club paid.
“I was playing in the Europa League but I was very angry with the coach because he was putting Maguire in the team instead of me. Thank God they have taken him out now and Licha Martinez is playing.”
Meanwhile, United are back in Premier League action on May 4 when they take on a tough Brighton side.
