Sports Brief looks at each team's remaining fixtures and who has the better chance of winning the title. As noted by the Bundesliga website, this is the most fiercely contested race in the German league's history.

Bayern Munich:

The defending champions might not have the easiest of run-ins as they face a top-four contender and a team battling relegation.

Here's who they play next:

Werder Bremen

Bremen are a team who find themselves in 12th place on the table. Unable to qualify for any European competition, even if they win their remaining games, they will just be looking to finish the season strong. Munich won the reverse fixture 6-1 and will be looking to have similar success this time around.

Schalke

Schalke could be a tough prospect for Bayern to overcome. Stuck in the relegation zone, they are 11 points short of safety, but five points short of a relegation playoff match. Beating the defending champions will strengthen their bid for survival. Bayern won the reverse fixture 2-0.

RB Leipzig

Marcos Rose's men are arguably the biggest threat in Bayern's last four games. Leipzig are three points away from third place and occupy the only Europa League qualification spot currently. The previous meeting between the two teams ended in a 1-1 draw.

FC Koln

Koln are another team stuck in the middle of the table with not much to play for. With Europe out of their reach, and the relegation battle not a concern, they will be hoping to end their season on a high note. Having drawn the previous game with Bayern, Koln could pose a challenge in the last game of the season for Thomas and company.

Borussia Dortmund:

While BVB don't have any teams in the top five to worry about, they will have to face some strong challengers as they chase down the title. Having last won it in 2012, the Black and Yellow are desperate to put an end to Munich's dominance.

Here's who they will have to beat to do that:

Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg are seventh on the table at present and are just outside the European qualifying spots. Bayer Leverkusen occupy the last Europa Conference League qualifier place and are only two points ahead of Wolfsburg. Dortmund also lost the reverse fixture 2-0 and can't afford to slip up again.

Borussia Mönchengladbach

Gladbach are 10th in the standings and also have very little to play for. With the top five out of reach, they will be looking to consolidate their top ten finish. Dortmund lost the reverse fixture 4-2.

Augsburg

13th on the table, Augsburg are looking to avoid getting dragged into the relegation dogfight. Only four points separate them from 17th-placed Schalke. The last time the two teams met, Dortmund won a thriller of a match as they secured a 4-3 win.

Mainz

The last hurdle in Dortmund's title challenge is Mainz. Sitting eighth on the table, they still have a chance of securing the last European qualifying spot. Dortmund won the previous fixture 2-1 and will be hoping to pull off a similar result this time around.

Dortmund hand Bayern title advantage

Dortmund handed Bayern the advantage in the Bundesliga title race, Sports Brief also reported.

The Black and Yellow were held to a 1-1 draw at lowly Bochum, while Bayern beat Hertha Berlin.

That meant the defending champions top the standings by a single point with four games to go.
