Find out who threw the beer at Malice at the Palace. The untold story of Malice at the Palace

Decisions, whether correct or otherwise, can alter the course of history.
There was one such controversial refereeing decision during relegation threatened Chippa United's 1-0 loss against Kaizer Chiefs last week. The Chilli Boys are 15th on the DStv Premiership table, meaning that if the league ended today, they would have to participate in the demanding and inconvenient PSL Playoff Tournament starting next month.
In the last phase of play during the match that Sports Brief observed, Chippa defender Abdi Banda clearly collided with Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Peterson as he tried to head in a dangerous cross from a corner kick. What is obvious is that Peterson had not yet made contact with the ball. The upshot was that this led to a melee that resulted in the ball being bundled over the line in what appeared to be a crucial equaliser.

However, the referee called a foul as a result of what happened between Banda and Peterson, which caused a storm of debate. Venerated television pundit Ace 'VAR' Ncobo laid down the law on Extra Time as to why the call was justified.
He stated:
"There are two things, here. Firstly, the whistle went long before the ball crossed the line. The second thing is, let us extract something from the Laws of the Game: Law 12, a goalkeeper cannot be challenged by an opponent when in control of the ball with hand(s). This is what the referee interpreted, here. This was a foul."
On the same show, "Mr Spot On", as Ncobo has come to be known, dissected the incident where Swallows FC defender Keegan Allan was elbowed in the jaw by Kaizer Chiefs striker Dillan Solomons.
Allan had to be attended to by paramedics and both team doctors after he collapsed while trying to get up. The referee will be remembered for his quick actions when he realised that the situation was lot more serious than was initially thought.
