United captain, Bruno Fernandes came clutch for the Red Devils in the first half, converting after World Cup winner, Emiliano Martinez spilled Marcus Rashford's shot.
According to Sky Sports, United ended Villa's 10-game unbeaten run and 20-game scoring streak under head coach, Unai Emery, limiting their reach towards a top-four finish.
Both teams had chances to make the result go their way, but in the end, the Red Devils took their opportunities and another step towards Champions League qualification.

Sancho returns Leon Bailey's trolling
Sancho and Bailey had a go at each other on Instagram before the game, but the Englishman had the last laugh over the Jamaican.
The United star posted on Instagram about his disappointment after dropping points at Tottenham and promised the fans they would make it right against Villa.
Bailey made fun of this with a cheeky comment about how things would unfold in their Sunday clash. As spotted by SportBible, the Red Devils winger responded after the game, which United won.
The two are familiar with each other during their days in the German Bundesliga, when Sancho played for Borussia Dortmund and Bailey donned the colours of Bayer Leverkusen.
