Having joined the Cherries in the winter transfer window, it took the 23-year-old ten games to break his duck.

Semenyo replaced Keiffer Moore in the 83rd minute before sealing the victory for Bournemouth in the 91st minute, as the host collected all three points at the Vitality Stadium.

Leeds pulled one back before the break after Patrick Bamford headed home a cross from Willy Gnonto.

After the break, Dominic Solanke extended Bournemouth's lead before Semenyo put the icing on the cake with a lovely finish.

The Ghana international will be relieved after getting his first goal at a crucial stage of the campaign, with Bournemouth looking safe from the relegation drop.

Before joining the Cherries in January, Semenyo had scored six goals in 23 matches in the English Championship.

Semenyo names Gyan as idol

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Semenyo revealing his ambitions of reaching the heights Asamoah Gyan climbed to with the Black Stars of Ghana.

The English-born Ghanaian netted his first competitive goal for his country in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola last month.

Semenyo is one of the players who has been charged with the role of occupying the huge vacuum left by the former Black Stars captain, Gyan.

Semenyo scores for Ghana

Sports Brief also reported on Semenyo being Ghana's hero after the Black Stars left it late against Angola in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

The Bournemouth striker came off the bench to score the match's only goal as the west Africans tightened their grip at the summit of Group E.

Semenyo's 96th-minute strike ensured Ghana's new national head coach, Chris Hughton started his new role on a convincing winning note.
