  • Thomas Tuchel has urged Sadio Mane to 'keep his head up' as he works around the clock to rediscover his early-season form
  • Mane's spell at Bayern Munich has not gone to plan, with the Senegalese bagging seven goals in 22 Bundesliga games
  • Meanwhile, Mane has been linked with a sensational return to the EPL with Chelsea keeping tabs on the ex-Liverpool star

Bayern Munich manager, Thomas Tuchel has opened up on the struggles of winger, Sadio Mane.

Mane, who swapped Liverpool for Bayern last summer, has failed to hit the right strings despite beginning his spell with the Bavarians on a bright note - scoring five goals in his first six outings.

His goals have since dried up while his overall form has significantly dipped, largely due to niggling injuries, with rumours linking him with a move away from the Allianz Arena, per GOAL.

Nonetheless, Mane played 60 minutes for FC Hollywood in their two-nil win against Hertha Berlin as Tuchel's charges usurped Borussia Dortmund at the summit of the Bundesliga.

Assessing the performance of the 31-year-old during the game, Bayern's recently-appointed manager explained Mane's role and why he had endured yet another subpar performance.

"Sadio started as a left forward, which I think is his best position from his time at Liverpool. Today's game focused more on the right because the link-up between Nous, King [Coman] and Serge [Gnabry] was better than the left between João [Cancelo], Jamal [Musiala] and [Mane]. João was often isolated," he said, as quoted by MiaSanMia.

The 49-year-old trainer urged Mane to 'keep working' to rediscover his mojo.

"The situation is as it is. He has to keep his head up and keep working. The guy scored countless goals in the toughest league in the world."

Is Mane heading to Chelsea?

Meanwhile, Mane could make a sensational return to the Premier League with Chelsea after just one year away, Sports Brief reported.

The Senegalese star left the English top flight in the summer of 2022 when he dumped the Reds to join Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich.

However, his spell in Germany has not gone to plan and Chelsea are said to be considering bringing him back into the English leagues.
