  • However, the 44-year-old has endured a frustrating run of results in recent months, with his second stint with the Blues failing to go according to plan

Frank Lampard is arguably one of the greatest footballers of his generation.

During his playing days, Lampard enjoyed one of the most glittering football careers of any midfielder.

From his early years as a player at West Ham United to his illustrious spell with Chelsea, Lampard's status as one of the EPL's most iconic footballers is well-secured.

However, the Englishman has not been able to live up to his billing since making his bow in football management.

The 44-year-old has endured a frustrating run in recent months, sparking concerns about his ability to become a top football manager.

When did Lampard make his managerial debut?

Lampard made his debut as a manager back in 2018 when he was appointed Derby County boss.

This was arguably his spell at the dugout as he nearly led the Rams back to the Premier League before they lost in the playoff final against Norwich City in a seven-goal thriller.

At the time, the legendary midfielder appeared on course to become one of the greatest managers just as he was as a player.

His short but decorative CV subsequently earned him the Chelsea job in the summer of 2019, replacing Antonio Conte, who had been sacked at the time.

However, Sky Sports reported that Lampard was shown the door after almost 18 months in charge, with Thomas Tuchel taking his place.

Lampard's career takes nosedive

While he was handed a lifeline by Everton in 2022, the Englishman was unable to redeem himself as he was sacked by the Toffees in January 2023.

The recent sacking of Graham Potter at Chelsea saw Lampard appointed the Blues' caretaker boss for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

However, he has had a nightmare start to life in his second stint at Stamford Bridge, with the tactician losing five straight matches.

Lamaprd's disastrous record

His latest defeat came on Wednesday night when Brentford stunned the west Londoners 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard's disastrous run as manager came to the fore after the loss, with ESPN tweeting stats of the Englishman's record.

According to the stats, the former midfielder has won just one of his last 19 matches in charge.

Two of the fixtures have ended in draws, with 16 others ending in defeats in a worrying run of form.

The stats took account of Lampard's spell at Everton and his current stint with the Blues.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Frank Lampard has given a strong response after he was asked about the possibility of Mauricio Pochettino replacing him as the next Chelsea boss.

The Blues are in the market for a permanent replacement for Graham Potter, who was sacked after just seven months at the helm of affairs.

Lampard, who was out of a job following his dismissal at Everton, was subsequently appointed to the role in an interim capacity as the club embarked on finding Potter's successor.
