  • Victor Osimhen could have joined Premier League club Arsenal in 2016 but chose a move to Wolfsburg
  • Fresh from the 2015 FIFA World Cup in Chile, where he scored 10 goals, he had attracted keen interest
  • Osimhen was invited to the Emirates Stadium but he opted to move to Germany to ‘learn and develop’

Nigerian international, Victor Osimhen once had a chance to join English Premier League club, Arsenal but he preferred a move to Germany, where he joined Wolfsburg in 2016.

He initially signed a pre-contract with the Bundesliga outfit and by 2017, he officially joined the club.

The striker had been noticed following his exploits at the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile, where he scored ten goals.

"It's true that a big team like Arsenal wanted me, and I feel honoured to be invited over. But personally, I feel Wolfsburg is a ladder for me to reach my professional goals."

Osimhen ceded the Gunners was a good team for young players but felt the Bundesliga outfit was his best move.

"This the best place for me to learn and develop because my heart is here with Wolfsburg."

With Arsenal now are on the verge of scuttling their chances of a Premier League title, his choice has been framed once again.

Manchester City look good to overtake the Gunners on the EPL table. Mikel Arteta’s side have struggled in the final third in their last couple of games and they could just bottle the race after leading for so longbid goodbye to the title this season.

Agbonlahor backs City for title

Sports Brief previously reported on former Aston Villa striker, Gabriel Agbonlahor stating Man City would retain the EPL title despite Arsenal currently topping the table.

It has been a tug of war between the Citizens and the Gunners, with fans of these two clubs anxiously waiting to see who will emerge champions at the end of the season.

Pep Guardiola and his wards are the reigning champions and retaining the title remains in their own hands, following a dismal run of form by Arsenal at the top.
