Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel seems to have embarked on a shocking new career years after he retired as a footballer.

Schmeichel enjoyed an illustrious football career spanning more than 20 years, with the legendary keeper plying his trade in the Premier League with United, Man City, and Aston Villa.

However, it was during his time at Old Trafford that he made a name for himself, with the former Denmark international winning numerous club and individual awards with the Red Devils.

The Sun reports the former goalkeeper earned icon status at the Theatre of Dreams during the 1990s, with his United career culminating in a Champions League triumph in 1999 under the tutelage of Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Dane also won an incredible five Premier League titles and three FA Cups during his time with the Red Devils.

After spells with Sporting Lisbon, Aston Villa and rivals City, Schmeichel called time on his glittering playing career in 2003 and transitioned into punditry and broadcasting.

Peter Schmeichel makes career change

However, the 59-year-old seems to be taking a different career path, which could lead him away from what made him famous.

Schmeichel is understood to be venturing into music, with the iconic goalkeeper now setting up a bad of his own.

According to The Mirror, the Dane spent the Covid-19 lockdown period learning how to play the guitar and has since set up his own recording studio with all the essential musical equipment.

Speaking on the move, Schmeichel disclosed pursuing music is one of his lifelong dreams.

“I had times where I’m sat there thinking, ‘Oof, I’m approaching 60, there’s so many things I really, really want to do. And one of the things was to play in a band," he told the Proper Football! podcast.
“I’m playing with professional musicians who’ve had like a 30-year career here in Denmark," he added.

Ronaldo hints at career change

Earlier, Sports Brief reported how Cristiano Ronaldo teased a career change by assuming the role of a photographer midway through Al Nassr's training session.

The veteran striker was spotted taking a few shots with a pro camera, with the images widely shared online.
