  • Raheem Sterling has offered to sponsor 14 needy students through UK's prestigious universities
  • He is trying to bridge the equality gap with the students of black, African, and Caribbean heritage
  • Sterling has endured a disastrous run of form with Chelsea since his move from Manchester City

Chelsea winger, Raheem Sterling has shown his kind side after he offered to fund the university education of 14 needy students.

Sterling's scholarships will be offered to 14 students of black, African and Caribbean heritage, with the move aimed at bridging the equality gap.

It is understood the Blues player took the initiative after research showed that less than five per cent of Britons studying degree programmes at the UK's prestigious universities were black.

Raheem Sterling's struggles with Chelsea

Sterling's initiative comes at a time he has endured his fair share of struggles at Stamford Bridge.

According to the Evening Standard, the former Manchester City ace has been unable to make an impact at Chelsea since his move to the capital in the summer of 2022.

Injuries have taken a huge toll on Sterling's consistency, with the winger managing just four Premier League goals so far in 18 appearances.

The former Liverpool superstar will be hoping to play an influential role for the remainder of the season, with the Blues eyeing a European football spot at the end of the campaign.

Sterling rejects Hazard comparison

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Sterling not seeing the similarities between himself and Eden Hazard, despite both having the ability to cut to their right foot and shoot in the box.

However, the embattled Chelsea star did mention one amusing similarity between the two footballers, which has been a topic in the mouths of fans for some time.

In 2017, Hazard - ahead of a game against Manchester City - imitated Sterling's ball movement during the warm-ups and fans were left howling at his accuracy.
