Football5 Worst Caretaker Managers in EPL History After Tottenham Sack Cristian Stellini
- Tottenham have hired their third manager of the season following Cristian Stellini's sacking
- Stellini was in charge of Spurs on an interim basis following the recent exit of Antonio Conte
- The Italian coach now joins a list of the worst-performing caretaker managers in EPL history
Chelsea and their London counterparts, Tottenham Hotspur are now on their combined seventh manager for the season after the latter's CEO cracked the whip on caretaker manager, Cristian Stellini on April 24.
This followed a 6-1 humiliation at St. James Park that put a serious dent in their hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League next season. Stellini was appointed barely a month ago to take over from Antonio Conte.
It is practically unheard of for an interim manager to be sacked and it is obvious Spurs have hit an all-time low.
Sports Brief takes a look at some of the worst caretaker managers in the history of the game.

1. Cristian Stellini - Tottenham
Of course, he tops the list. A caretaker manager is always brought in to steady the ship but the Italian drew against Everton, won at Brighton by a whisker, and lost to Bournemouth before the Magpies picked them apart. It was then Daniel Levy decided he had seen enough.
2. John Carver - Newcastle
Carver was brought in as an interim replacement for Allan Pardew in 2015. Newcastle went on an eight-match losing spree under his tenure - the worst run of form in the club's history.
3. Allan Shearer - Newcastle
Another one from Newcastle makes the list. Shearer might have been the best-ever striker in Premier League's history, but his management levels were not up to the same level.

FootballThe club legend was in charge when the club was relegated in 2009. In his defence, he had taken over amid a turbulent season under Joe Kinnear and Chris Hughton.
4. Frank Lampard- Chelsea
It is a little bit harsh to include the current Chelsea caretaker manager but when you lose your first four games, setting a new club record, you are not doing yourself any favours.
Lampard was roped into the Blues' catastrophic season and so far, he hasn't been able to stem the rot. It is highly unlikely he will be sacked this term, given that Chelsea are virtually competing for nothing this season - no immediate relegation fears nor competition for European places.
5. Terry Connor - Wolverhampton Wanderers
There was nothing much Connor would do as Wolves finished bottom of the league in 2012. He had only managed to pick up 9 points in 13 games after taking over from Mick McCarthy.
