FootballFans Claim Thomas Tuchel Is “Overrated” After Bayern Suffer Shock Defeat to Mainz
- Thomas Tuchel's woes since taking over as Bayern Munich continued unabated
- The former Chelsea and PSG boss watched his side crumble to a 3-1 loss at Mainz 05
- His underwhelming results since replacing Julian Nagelsmann have convinced fans he is simply a "media hype"
Football fans flocked to social media to register their disappointment with Thomas Tuchel following Bayern Munich's shock defeat at Mainz on Saturday.
Bayern surrendered a 1-0 lead at halftime, stumbling to a crashing 3-1 defeat at Tuchel's old stomping grounds, much to the chagrin of most fans, who had high expectations of the former Chelsea manager.
The defeat against Mainz comes off the back of a disappointing Champions League exit, where the Bavarians were bundled out of the competition by Manchester City on a 4-1 aggregate loss across two legs, per Eurosport.
Tuchel's latest setback means he has won just two of seven games in charge of FC Hollywood and could move to second place in the Bundesliga if Borussia Dortmund beat Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday evening, BBC reports.

"Him [Tuchel] and Lampard have something in common."
@PhilipooPlatiny argued the appointment of Tuchel was an error:
"Can we all agree Bayern made a mistake by sacking Nagelsmann? Since Tuchel can't even beat a team anymore."

"Tuchel is overrated, but we ain't ready for that discussion. His lucky first 6-months magic got y'all overrating him."

FootballBayern lose at Mainz
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich slumped to a 3-1 away defeat at Mainz on Saturday, handing Borussia Dortmund the chance to take the top spot.
Bayern have now won just two from seven since sacking manager Julian Nagelsmann for former Dortmund and Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel in late March.
Bayern came into the match under heavy pressure, with the Bundesliga title the last trophy available after Wednesday's Champions League exit at the hands of Manchester City.
