It was a torrid night for the Spanish custodian, whose future at the club is uncertain.

Maguire's reaction

After the first goal went in, as Daily Star reports, fans think Maguire told de Gea to shut up. The goalkeeper was visibly upset that his skipper couldn't keep possession.

Maguire's time at Manchester has always been punctuated with high-profile errors. He is set to have a lengthy run in the team with Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane currently sidelined with injuries.

Fans blast Maguire

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Manchester United captain Harry Maguire made a tragicomedy in defence to gift Sevilla the lead in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.

The England international fumbled away possession and Youssef En-Nesyri capitalised on the giveaway to score a goal that gave his team a 3-2 aggregate advantage in Spain.

The incident occurred in the 8th minute when United goalkeeper David de Gea put Maguire in trouble with his pass. But the centre-back was quickly pounced upon by three Sevilla players before El-Nesyri eventually lashed it home.
