- His strike against Bayern takes his tally to 12 in the Champions League and, most importantly, helps City reach the semifinal
Erling Haaland picked Dayot Upamecano apart before notching his 12th Champions League goal as Manchester City advanced to the semifinal of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Norwegian's goal helped City reach the last four with an aggregate scoreline of 4-1, booking a tantalizing date with record holders Real Madrid, who bundled Chelsea out of the competition the previous day.
Haaland, who has been in red-hot form, skied a penalty before making amends with his sublime goal, which came after outwitting Upamecano, who endured yet another horror showing in Europe, per Fan Nation.
The Bayern defender was earlier rescued from an early shower after bringing his man down by a VAR decision. He was at fault again after handling the ball in the box, which Haaland missed the resultant penalty.

Commentator mocks Upamecano
This happened during the second leg of the UEFA Champions League between Bayern and Manchester City at the Allianz Arena, Sports Brief reported.
Upamecano put in a terrible performance as the Bavarian giants exited the competition at the quarterfinal stage for the third season in a row.
Erling Haaland atoned for his penalty miss in the first half by opening the scores before Joshua Kimmich restored parity from the spot with less than 8 minutes to play. The aggregate score was 4-1 as City went on to set a semifinal date with Real Madrid - a repeat of last year's clash.

FootballHaaland scores as City book semis
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Manchester City will face Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals for the second straight year after an Erling Haaland goal secured a 1-1 draw and a 4-1 aggregate last-eight win over Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
The Norwegian missed a first-half penalty but muscled his way up-field midway through the second half, lashing past Bayern goalkeeper Yann Sommer for his 48th goal in 41 appearances this season.
City will play in the semis for the third straight year, but face manager Pep Guardiola's old foe, Real Madrid, who scored two injury-time goals to spectacularly turn the tie their way on the way to eventually winning the title last season.
