Football"It's a Joke": Fans Slam Referee Over Manchester City Penalty Decision Against Bayern Munich
- Bayern Munich welcomed Manchester City to the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night
- Dayot Upamecano was penalised for handling the ball inside the penalty area
- Some football fans believe the referee's decision to award City the penalty was harsh
A whole host of football fans on social media have slammed referee Clement Turpin after he awarded Manchester City a penalty against Bayern Munich at Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.
Pep Guardiola and his charges were awarded a spot-kick with 38 minutes on the clock when Dayot Upamecano was deemed to have deflected a shot with his arm.
Ilkay Gundogan whipped a shot into Bayern's box that struck the Frenchman's elbow from close range and referee Turpin did not hesitate in pointing to the spot.
Erling Haaland, who leads this season's Champions League topscorers' chart, goes straight down the middle but skied the resulting penalty over the crossbar.

@Rory_Talks_Ball reacted:
"Karma. Ref is desperate to give this to City, tried to send Upamecano off before the lino could even get his flag up Then gives a penalty for a ridiculous handball that nobody appealed for."

FootballUpamecano's errors vs Manchester City
Just like in Manchester last week, where he was culpable for two goals, Upamecano was once again off the pace in front of his home fans, Sports Brief reported earlier.
He was lucky to escape a straight red card after he hauled down Haaland in a last-man tackle.
The referee rescinded his decision after VAR images showed the Norwegian hitman had started in an offside position.
