Ronaldo saw his consolation goal controversially chopped off in the tie, as Odion Ighalo's brace condemned Al-Nassr to a costly loss, further reducing their chances of winning their first Saudi Pro League since 2018, MEN reports.

Aside from his no-show in the derby, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward was booked for a challenge which more resembled a WWE move.

After leaping onto his opponent, Ronaldo wrapped his right arm around his opponent's neck and wrestled him to the ground using his body weight, per the Sun.

His overzealous and unexpected tackle necessitated a caution from former Premier League referee, Michael Oliver, who was in charge of the Riyadh derby involving Al-Nassr and Al Hilal.

What's next for Ronaldo's Al-Nassr?

It was the first game Al-Nassr played after parting ways with former AS Roma coach, Rudi Garcia.

Up next for Ronaldo and his teammates is a league semi-final clash with Al-Wehda in the Saudi King Cup on April 24, where the Portuguese star will hope to be on the score sheet.

Ronaldo taunted with 'Messi' chant

Earlier, Sports Brief also reported on Al-Nassr superstar, Ronaldo being taunted by opposition fans during his side's 2-0 loss to Al-Hilal on Tuesday night, in reference to his long-time rival, Lionel Messi.

It was a frustrating night for the Portuguese phenomenon, whose side's league hopes were dealt a crushing blow thanks to a brace by Nigerian striker, Ighalo at the King Fahd International Stadium.

As Ronaldo exited the field, Al-Hilal fans inside the stadium were quick to taunt the Portuguese superstar with chants of 'Messi, Messi' and waved the World Cup winner's shirts in his direction.
