Veteran Italian striker Mario Balotelli has finally ended his five-month goal drought after finding the back of the net for FC Sion.

Balotelli was on target for the Swiss side during their top-flight clash against Grasshoppers on Sunday, April 17.

According to The Sun, the former Manchester City star joined FC Sion last summer after dumping Turkish side Adana Demirspor.

The publication reports the 32-year-old made a bright start to life in Switzerland as he scored an impressive four goals in his first six Swiss Super League matches.

However, Balotelli's goals dried up soon after, with the striker going for five months without finding the back of the net.

Balotelli back on the scoresheet

The former AC Milan forward seems to have rediscovered his form as he got his name back on the scoresheet on Sunday.

Balotelli captained FC Sion to victory, with his side sinking 10-man Grasshoppers 3-1 at Letzigrund.

The Italian opened the scoring for FC Sion moments before the break, with Giovanni Sio and Wylan Cyprien also scoring for the visitors.

Balotelli will be hoping to continue to impress in front of the goal when his side take on Lugano in their next fixture set for next Sunday, April 23.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported the No.45 shirt has always been synonymous with Mario Balotelli for the better part of his football career.

Balotelli has worn the shirt from his early football days with Inter Milan, Manchester City, Liverpool, and even at his current club Sion.

The Italian striker started his career with Lumezzane before he moved to Inter Milan in 2007.
