Arsenal players have been bashed online after their social media admin shared a video of them signing a jersey for the club's mascot.

The bone of contention amongst many social media users was the fact that no Arsenal player appeared to smile or acknowledge the young lady as they signed the jersey.

The video was shared on April 16th, a few minutes before Arsenal played West Ham at the London Stadium. Mikel Arteta's side dropped points for the second consecutive game week after they blew away a 2-0 lead.

The draw saw Manchester City close the gap to within four points with the defending champions having a game in hand. Arsenal also still have to play Pep Guardiola's side at the Etihad Stadium on April 26th.

The mascot video has provoked strong reactions online, with many fans wondering why none of the stars could spare a minute for the lady who understandably seemed starstruck.

The feeling was that she might have gotten a jersey signed by Arsenal players, but a hi-five or a smile from one of the payers could have gone a long way.

Not everyone agreed with the majority sentiments, though Arsenal fan, Danny Armstrong, said:

"A team in the midst of a title race are asked to sign a shirt moments before a London derby vital to winning a 1st league title in 19 years, without being told why, and politely oblige. But in 2023, Twitter is crying because they didn’t pat the mascot on the head. Grow up."

Arsenal is yet to provide a follow-up statement on the video. Nearly all of the Gunners' first-team players passed by the girl as they signed the jersey.
