FootballWhen David Moyes Predicted Arsenal Could Bottle the Premier League
- David Moyes suggested back in December that Arsenal could squander the Premier League title
- According to the West Ham boss, Manchester City were still the team to beat in the EPL title race
- The Gunners suffered a huge blow to their title bid on Sunday after a draw against the Hammers
Old comments by David Moyes, in which he predicted Arsenal would bottle the Premier League, have surfaced.
The comments re-emerged after the Gunners surrendered a two-goal lead against West Ham United to draw 2-2 at the London Stadium.
The north Londoners kicked off the match by racing to a 2-0 lead in the opening 10 minutes of the match, courtesy of goals from Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard.
However, the hosts pulled one back through Said Benrahma, who found the back of the net in the 33rd minute from the penalty spot.

Bukayo Saka had a golden chance to restore Arsenal's two-goal lead when his side won a penalty, only for the Englishman to fire his effort wide.
Jarrod Bowen went on to make it 2-2 for West Ham shortly after as the hosts held firm to ensure the match ended in a draw.
The result dealt Arsenal a huge blow to their Premier League title bid, as there are now just four points separating them and second-placed Man City, who have a game in hand.
David Moyes' EPL comments
With Arsenal in danger of giving up the Premier League title, comments made by Moyes about the title race back in December have resurfaced.
At the time, the West Ham United boss suggested Man City were still the firm favourites to win the crown despite the Gunners topping the standings.
Lampard urges Chelsea to emulate 2012 shock run to Euro glory
Football"I think Mikel might go on to be one. Do I think they’re going to win it this year? I’m not sure," Moyes was quoted by The Mirror, when asked if Arteta can guide Arsenal to glory.
Moyes believed it would be a mistake not to consider Man City as being in the race.
"You’d be doing [Man City] down. They’ve got a fantastic team and there’ll be other teams that are a bit more used to being around the top, maybe a Liverpool later on."
Meanwhile, Arteta's charges will be hoping to get their Premier League title bid back on track when they take on struggling Southampton in their next outing.
Saka breaks silence on miss
Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Saka being on the receiving end after he missed a penalty against West Ham United.
The Arsenal ace had a chance to restore his side's two-goal lead, only for him to fire his shot wide from the spot.
Taking to Instagram after the game, Saka apologised to Arsenal fans, promising he would make up for the miss.
