  • Erling Haaland tied Mohamed Salah's best season goal tally with two goals against Leicester
  • Salah's tally of 32 goals is the most a player has ever scored in a single 38-game Premier League season
  • Haaland has eight more games to move clear as he continues to shatter records in England

Erling Haaland continued with his fine goalscoring form after he bagged a first-half brace against Leicester City on April 15.

The Manchester City striker scored from the penalty spot before chipping the ball over Daniel Iversen to add to John Stones' early opener.

Haaland's goals took him to 32 goals for the campaign, equalling Mohamed Salah's best season goal tally that he set in the 2017/2018 season.

Salah has arguably been the most prolific scorer in the past decade, alongside Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane. The Egyptian's record of 32 goals is the most number of goals scored by a player in a single Premier League season.

Andy Cole and Allan Shearer scores 34 goals in the 90s, but their goals came when the Premier League had 42 games in a season instead of the 38 we have nowadays.

Haaland is now on course of breaking Salah's record and even surpassing Cole's and Shearer's records. The Norwegian was hooked off at halftime, but he will have eight more games to break that tally.

The fact that it is his maiden season in England makes it even more beautiful to see. He will also be hoping to help the Citizens to retain their Premier League title and win the elusive Champions League title. They currently have a 3-0 first-leg lead over Bayern Munich.

Cassano slams Haaland

Sports Brief had earlier reported that former Real Madrid striker Antonio Cassano has once again stirred up the hornet's nest, this time training his guns on Erling Haaland.

The retired Italian international has claimed that the Manchester City striker does not know how to play football.

Going by Haaland's numbers this season alone, it seems quite ironic for Cassano to level such a claim. The Norwegian scored his 45th goal in all competitions in their midweek clash against Bayern Munich.
