Liverpool have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign teenage English midfielder Jude Bellingham after admitting they can not afford him amidst a massive rebuild planned at the club.

The Reds have James Milner, and Naby Keita set to depart in the summer, with club captain Jordan Henderson also considering his future at the club.

Jurgen Klopp will prioritise at least three new midfielders in the summer, with the centre-back another position the club could invest heavily in.

According to Daily Express, the Bellingham transfer could cost about £135m, including add-ons, a fee Liverpool can not afford to spend on one midfielder when they need at least three.

Klopp makes future admission

According to ESPN, the German is contracted to the club until the summer of 2026 after signing a two years extension a year ago, which, if expended, would see him spend 11 years at the club.

While he did not directly confirm the Bellingham transfer decision, he got angry when asked if he would quit the club due to limited finances, according to Mirror UK.

“This is my club. Nothing. You want to suggest I quit here and wait for the next top job? Really? This is my club,” he said ahead of next week's trip to Elland Road.
“What you want to know is as I sit here, am I angry that we can’t do this or that. No I am not. I am not… I am not here to be angry about things that will work out or not,” he added.

Five midfielders Liverpool can sign

Sports Brief look at five midfielders Liverpool can sign after reportedly cooling their interest in Jude Bellingham.
