Bruno Fernandes has made fun of his midfield partner, Fred, over the Brazilian's lack of goals.
Fred scored a rare one last weekend against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
The former Shakhtar Donestk star scored United's equaliser in north London on Sunday, April 11, shortly after Heung-Min Son had handed Spurs the lead.
Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood also got into the act late in the second half as the Red Devils sprung a comeback to beat Jose Mourinho's men.
However, it was Fred's goal that got his teammates talking, with Fernandes shoving him during team celebrations.
And when asked why he greeted his teammate with a friendly shove, Fernandes explained it had to do with the significance of the goal for the Brazilian midfielder.
"So [it was] because Fred normally never scores So, when he scores, we have to do something different," Fernandes told MUTV.
"It will be the next goal in one year because I think the last one he scored for us was against Club Brugge, one year ago almost or maybe more," the Portuguese joked.
Despite forming an important part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team, Fred rarely finds the back of the net - scoring just four times since his arrival at Old Trafford in 2018.
Interestingly, the Spurs goal was his first in the Premier League in as many months, with his last in the top-flight coming 31 months ago.
But when asked about his goalscoring record, Fred admitted he is keen to provide more goals for the Old Trafford club.
"Very happy about the goal, my first goal of the season. I know my job is not scoring goals but when I score goals I am feeling very happy," Metro UK quoted him saying.
"I am going to keep trying to get more this season," he added.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Twenty-year-old Noah who is the son of Manchester United gaffer Ole Solskjaer slammed Tottenham coach Jose Mourinho over the comments he made after his side's defeat in the EPL.
