Harambee Stars head coach Jacob 'Ghost' Mulee has exuded confidence the team has everything it takes to qualify for the 2022 World Cup to be staged in Qatar.

Kenya has never made an appearance in the global football extravaganza but will be desperate to make history once the qualifiers kick off.

Stars have been pooled in Group E of the qualifiers alongside rivals Uganda, Rwanda, and Mali.

According to Mulee, he has a conviction his team can go against all odds and secure a place in the World Cup.

The experienced tactician cited support from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) among the factors that can catapult Harambee Stars to the global stage.

“If I didn’t have hope [that Kenya will reach World Cup finals in Qatar], then I couldn’t have taken this job, always when I wake up every morning I have the hashtag #WC2022 as a reminder and I know God willing we will be there,” Mulee said during Arocho Live on Wednesday, June 30.
“I have checked our opponents and with the plans, I have already put in place, and with the support of the federation, I know we can make it and we will qualify," he added.

Mulee's claim came only months after Kenya failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations after finishing third in Group G behind Egypt and Comoros.

Stars sealed a 2-1 win over Togo in their last group fixture, but the result was not enough to grant them a slot for the finals of the Africa Cup of Nation set for 2022 in Cameroon.

Harambee Stars to kick off World Cup 2022 qualifiers vs Uganda

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported Harambee Stars will shift their focus to World Cup 2022 qualifiers as their fixtures were released on Thursday, April 1.

Stars will kick off their World Cup qualifying quest with an interesting fixture against Uganda on either June 5 or 6.

The two nations will hope to make amends in the famous Migingo derby after both sides failed to qualify for AFCON.

Uganda Cranes suffered a 1-0 defeat against Malawi at the Kamuzu Stadium in Lilongwe, which ultimately ended their hopes for a third consecutive ticket to the AFCON finals as they finished third in Group B with eight points.
