FootballMourinho Bemoans Roma’s Wasted Chances As He Provides Injury Update on Dybala and Abraham
- AS Roma lost the first leg of their UEFA Europa League quarter-final against Feyenoord
- The Dutch club got their revenge for last year's Conference League final loss beating Roma 1-0
- Injuries to forwards Paulo Dybala and Tammy Abraham hit Jose Mourinho's side
Jose Mourinho has questioned AS Roma's depth after an injury-laden 1-0 loss to Feyenoord in the first leg of the quarter-final of the UEFA Europa League.
The Dutch side have one leg in the semi-final and are halfway through getting their revenge against Roma for the 1-0 defeat in the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League final at Tirana, Albania, last year.
Mats Weiffer put the hosts ahead in the 54th minute after Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini had missed a penalty that could have given the visitors the lead in the first half.
Mourinho's team left the Netherlands with injuries to Paulo Dybala (adductor) and Tammy Abraham (dislocated shoulder), summing up an evening where everything went wrong, according to Football Italia.

Mourinho critical of wasted chances
According to Opta Paolo, Roma have hit the woodwork 26 times in all competitions this season. This exemplifies the team's struggles in front of the goal.
Mourinho, speaking after the game as quoted by Roma Press, highlighted this as a primary reason his team lost today and many others this season.
“We don’t have Haaland up front. We are who we are, we always do our best. The boys put in a lot of effort and sacrifice,” he said.
“We had the opportunity to have a different result, but this is the reality. We lost the first match 1-0. Sunday will be a tough match and Thursday next week will be just as difficult.”

FootballThe Special One also had bad news about the two injured stars, with the possibility of them being ruled out of the next two games from the initial view of things.
“I don’t know, but what happens on the pitch is enough. I didn’t have time to ask questions during the game and didn’t speak to the medical team or the medical staff after the game.” he said.
Mourinho sends message to Feyenoord
Sports Brief reported that Jose warned Feyenoord not to be obsessed with the revenge of last year's Conference League final when the two sides meet.
He emphasised that the result was in the past, and even a 10-0 victory for Feyenoord would not change the outcome of the final in their favour.
